Island Information - Jamaica

The Island:
Jamaica is the third largest island in the Caribbean and is centrally located. The island itself is around 4,400 square miles and has the largest English-speaking population in the Caribbean. Many of its major cities lie along the coast, providing plenty of beautiful beaches and dramatic landscapes. With a mix of mountains, lush tropical gardens and coastal plains, Jamaica is the perfect all inclusive vacation destination.

The Climate:
Jamaica’s average temperatures range from mid-70s in winter months to around 80 for the summer months. Rain can be expected mostly in mountainous regions and in quick cooling spurts, usually in May and October. But with mostly temperate days and dreamy nights, Jamaica is a perfect year-round travel destination.

A Note About Inclement Weather:
Wind can be a factor in Jamaica, with the official hurricane season lasting from June through November. Although the Island has been hurricane-free since September 1988, any nearby storm can impact the weather patterns. To alleviate traveler fears, many resorts and booking agencies now offer weather insurance and hurricane protection to ensure a worry-free experience.

The People
You will find Jamaican locals to be colorful, full of life, warm and open. As much of the island’s economy depends on tourism, you will feel welcomed as you soak up the unique and special culture of Jamaica’s people.
